i am a whiner. shoot me.

i've just got home from seeing ''how to deal'' with mandy moore, i didn't actually go WITH her but she is in the movie. so it's a cutesy doutesy movie about girls and boys and it has some sad bits. i really liked the movie because i'm actually a girl raised a boy and obviously only a girl would like such a movie because i'm such a pigheaded male. so this movie got me thinking about a few things.#

firstly, this movie happens to people who are in high school, juniors to be exact if my note taking was at all accurate. i am not in high school anymore. this movie is about people falling in love and being happy, but sad at some points too. (the flaming lips are actually played in the movie, ''don't you realize, that happiness, can make you cry?'') so these two things put together brings me to my thought: if i'm not in high school anymore will i ever be able to fall in love like that? this really upsets me. although i can just look at other movies where the people are supposed to be in college and that makes me feel better. _because obviously life imitates the movies and nothing that happens in life hasn't happened in a movie_#

secondly, i thought about how i'm weird at relationships. mandy's character in the movie doesn't want to have feelings for anyone because she doesn't want to give them the opportunity to hurt her -- so she wants to *make out* with people but not have feelings for them, and by people i mean the boy in the movie. i on the other hand, don't want to make out with people because i don't want them to get hurt if i stop making out with them. or something like that. #

i thought about how i'm so typical and i only want what i can't have. i thought about how i really like the phrasology "suck at." and how i suck at lots. i thought about talking to people in song quotes or referring to them while talking. is that bad? it's kind a little bit. although probably only when they are bad lyrics.#

one more thought actually. when i was in my younger waste, i would often go "party", i guess you would say, in this one part of mass. it doesn't really matter where, but at one point i found this really pretty lake in the middle of the woods. it was really really smooth, _like glass_, and i thought it was great. it was big so you could the reflection of the moon, and there were lots of rocks for skipping. ever since then i've been trying to find the right girl to bring there and show it to her. i have lots of secrets i want to share, <cliche>i just don't want to get hurt</cliche>, so i don't tell anyone yet or find someone to tell.#

the purpose of this post is too look like i'm a broken hearted sap who _really cares_ unlike most of the other guys so that you'll want to be the one i should fall in love with because i'm lame like that. the secondary purpose of this post is to write like i did when i was 11.#

you're totally in my dreams girl

i respect charles miller because he can admit he is wrong but i don't respect myself because i just read what other people write and don't make anything my own so i don't have to deal with such worries.#

the bitch girls ask "What is your favourite part of a woman?" Well, my favourite part is her mind... hahahahahahaaha just kidding. i like necks, they are *awesome*.#

read about the growing business of romance as referred by courtney. the romance novel is one of my favourite types of books, i like that they are light and yet very fulfilling. my favourite authors are clare naylor and nicholas sparks, do they count? #

webmink feels the same way as me about weblogs without rss feeds. i hate at them.#

hunting the muse links and writes about ''right wing thinking'', particularly that of george bush and rick santorum -- the two links are interesting reads and HoM's musings are right on target.#

don park compares women with food and he identifies something that i think every young guy goes through: ''When I was a young man, whole world of restaurants and exotic food opened up to me. Likewise, there was a whole world of women suddenly. Discovering new food, exotic drinks and women was a weekly event then.'' it's important and difficult to appreciate the good over the new.#

don park links up some intriguing discussion of the dave winer thingy. both of the links are writing very well too, which i like because there's nothing like reading smart thoughts in pretty swell words. about those smart thoughts, even though there's no "real" responsibility because it is "your weblog" it just seems like it would be nice for links not to change and not be such a jerk in the first place that you'd want to delete it later?#

don park also links tim bray's the door is ajar post and writes that the passive tactic devised by tim isn't the best bet. his idea is essential, the reason people don't use "good software" (or FREE software if you're that kind of monkey) isn't because they like what they have too much its because: they don't know there's something better; and, it's too difficult for them to get it and make sure they keep getting updates. because 3rd-party apps (and especially Communist Party apps) don't have the pleasure of being sent to consumers on already set up on their machine, or one click away, or updated via www.windowsupdate.com -- right on.#

a jeffrey zeldman interview from the zeldmeister himself contains this gem, ''Q: Do you think Apple will ever go away? A: My boy, the universe itself will disappear one day. We've got to try to enjoy ourselves in the meantime. '' and many other great answers.#

there is an interview with many openbsd developers entitled ''The Essence of OpenBSD'', it is pretty interesting in a general sort of way. what was most interesting to me was this link about OpenBSD ICB server-thingy, cooool.#

tony is pissed off about asshole old men killing people and doing being in jail afterwards and i think everyone agrees with him for two reasons: 1. He's Tony Pierce. 2. He's right. Damn. a kuro5hin article about the same incident, reporter style.#

tony can also see through aol bullshit and reveal that ''aol users dont actually think. thats what makes them aol users. i saw a kid riding a skateboard the other day. skateboarding is still very popular here in hollywood. and i thought, if aol ruled the world, they would slap training wheels on skateboards and charge kids $20/month to go slower and be able to do fewer things.'' *yes*, tony you real rock up the ass of the internet.#

an article on kuro5hin about liquid democracy talks about it's pros and cons and how it could happen. the problem with alternative, sensible systems of government is that either the current government needs to decide to change (HAH!) or there needs to be some revolution (HAH!) or you need to discover a new place and make a new sovereign entity (HAH!) -- wishful thinking and utopias are nice!#

good links from mpt, also "from mpt": ''Netscape's control over Mozilla was the single biggest factor in making Mozilla's usability suck, from the project's inception until two days ago. That's a pretty tall order to make an interface design crappier even faster than hundreds of volunteer geeks are but somehow, Netscape managed it. That was the main reason I used to get so angry, so often.'' #

oh my god funniest thing ever a parody of the awesome honda ad from abh#
