heading down a road to ruin

tony pierce has a good friend in karisa. i have no friends because i'm selfish and conceited. but hey, at least i'm always right. tony says it's weird that he sets up everything he does via email, i don't think it's that strange because it's very easy to get two people with competing schedules (ie, practically everyone) together by having passive interactions via email when they're available. but i can't really say so with too much certainty because all my friends are always near me because they live in my head. mpt is very funny when he links "Why You Should Switch to the Mozilla Firebird Browser as "why you shouldn\u2019t let programmers write marketing documents." - hah#

tim o'reilly writes about the guidelines for a network-aware application. i think it's really neat how almost everything tim writes on this site is driven and brought about because of people emailing him. i wonder what he thinks about that others don't?#

an article about how to sell your design ideas on 'web page design for designers' via digital web magazine offers some good advice on selling your ideas in general. although i think the title is a bit of a misnomer, as the article tries to say you shouldn't come to the table thinking you're going to SELL this idea or WIN this person. you should instead say, "I have the opportunity to be on a team and make some great." 'Don't work FOR the client, work WITH the client'#

mark, of dive into mark, thinks rss should be left alone. and even if something else is made, it still won't displace rss because they'll just happily co-exist together, like the many of hundred xml standards polluting the world.#

i read a little bit about functional programming today, it's nice to have a reminder of concepts you "know" but don't really "use". a cute little introduction with some nice metaphors and analogies, and then a longer article about why it, (and specifically haskell) matters. (interest peaked by peter lindberg)#

another fan of tony pierce is shattered when (s)he learns that tony is not in fact the mack we all wish he were and that they really are lies. i find this hard to believe because bitties don't normally hate like that but what eva. i also noticed that tony linked me in the upper left hand corner of his site... right BENEATH tsar. sidetrack on tsar: listened to their mp3s, it's good, want to get the cd, remind me of some rock i like. word.#

ryan mcgee dissects what was wrong with some recent movies that were released. an interesting read. "An audience will quickly lose interest in a movie where every scene has a deus ex machina on its side."#
