pain is opposed, if you just stop feeling it
today was a good day for my self-esteem. i had a final exam for a summer class that i think i did very well on and i had some happy linkage to me. thank you chrystal you're a dear. and moxie linked me too for some reason, even though i'm a weird internet person. love. my role model tony sent some my way too. sacweeeheeet.#
some how netnewswire managed to get me banned from slashdot's rss feeds, despite having it set up to poll every hour. very curious :)#
there was a new lwn weekly edition today so last week's is now available. the kernel section was pretty interesting, particularly the bits about the hotplug/sysfs and the ext3 locking work.#
moxie has written a very charming description of an old babysitter of her's, maude. the woman with 7 bathrooms, uncanny youth, and a propensity for scuba diving in the shower. while this story was very heart warming and interesting (in that way that all stories about crazy old people and youths thinking they are normal and charming until later years are) the main thing it made me think about was footed pj's. I love footed pjs, or at least i seem to remember loving them when i was one who would wear them often. i think i will try to find myself some for big people. a friend of mine who used to sing in a punk rock band would often where his pink footed pjs to shows and run around looking like a guy in a bunny suit that was actually pajamas. they're the best. moxie's up there too. right with warm pajamas that protect your feet and remember you of an innocent youth.#
tony examines his feelings on his status as a "Not-So-A-List" blogger and the number of comments/links he gets. He notes that he won't ever be able to write like the people he looks up to but what he does write is different and because of that it's not so bad. i think it's curious that he would say this, because most people aren't satisfied unless they are on top, or at least on the way up. it's also strange to think about the people you look up to looking up to other people. i ponder who's on top? maybe the guy on the "top" longs to be like the guy on the "bottom" who can write whatever is on her mind without having to worry about an audience. ponder.#
later tony raps up a storm about the mistake he made on the job leading to the death of young'd up gangsters. i think that i would also enjoy his idea of a good summer, with a different job every day watching the ladies at the beach as the play, not like this job - it's a bummer. but i don't like reading about him getting sad about karisar, girls shouldn't tempt boys with pictures of them tan and perfect. #
i'm not sure i believe tony when he claims that he writes sad to show how it's a meaningless endeavor and way too easy to get worked up over. i can back up that but just because something's easy doesn't mean you should do it. sometimes it's nice to wallow and get some nice pity from people so the ladies will think you're a sweet guy... right up until you trick them into falling in love with you and saying "Gotcha!" that's how i do it at least.#
there's an interesting pointer to wonderful things that have happened in america because of war over at kuro5hin.org#
